The facts you must know when buying a used Yamaha U series Culture and popularity.

Culture and popularity:

In Japanese culture there is little or no demand for second-hand goods. There is, however, a compulsion to own the newest and best. This means that many perfectly good high-cost, little used items such as pianos are exported. Our group of company’s have imported more than 10,000 used pianos from Japan over the last 10 years, primarily the Yamaha U series and Kawai pianos. The U series have been Yamaha’s most successful instrument, produced and made to last in large numbers for over 50 years, they enjoy an enviable reputation with amateur and professional musicians alike. For many, the U-Series is a favourable option to a small grand piano.

Fact 2 – You can’t gauge the quality of a Piano by its appearance alone it’s the inside what matters most!

One colour, two grades of quality

Nearly all the U-Series pianos imported are finished in black polyester. There are however, two grades of quality-A and B We only choose pianos with the A grade quality as B grades have had very hard lives particularly being used in schools. We personally hand-pick every instrument in Japan and only buy A- Grade pianos this means that each piano:  

• is guaranteed to have had light domestic use only ( no wear and tear)
• is under 35 years old-usually indicated by serial numbers above 1,000.000
• has a balanced tone
• is completely refurbished in our own factory and almost looks like new and ready for the next 50 years of use
